Requirements depend on the competition level: training pitches 75-200 lx, regional league 200-300 lx, national league 500 lx, international matches 800-2000 lx for TV broadcasts. Lighting uniformity of at least 0.6 and glare limitation GR<50 are important. We use asymmetric optics aimed at the playing surface. Typically, 4-6 masts of 18-35 m height are installed depending on the level. League stadiums require backup power and gradual light ramp-up.
For tennis courts, preventing glare during serves and lobs is critical. Luminaires are placed on 8-10 m high poles on the sides of the court, never behind the baselines. Minimum illuminance for recreational tennis is 200 lx, for tournaments 500 lx, and for TV broadcasts 1000-2000 lx. We use luminaires with limited glare GR<50 and asymmetric optics. For outdoor courts, we select IP65 protection and IK08 ball impact resistance.
Multi-purpose halls require flexible lighting for different sports. We install LED panels or high-bay luminaires with dimming capability and switchable lighting scenes. Basic illuminance is 300 lx for recreational sport, 500 lx for competitions, and 750-2000 lx for TV. Luminaires are protected with grilles against balls (basketball, volleyball). Emergency lighting must be at least 10% of total intensity. For badminton, we ensure a contrasting background for ceiling luminaires.
An athletics stadium requires different illumination levels: running track 200-500 lx, field event sectors 300-500 lx. For international competitions, 500-700 lx with a uniformity of 0.7 is required. We install 4-8 masts of 25-40 m height with 600-1500 W LED floodlights. Each discipline has specific requirements - for example, pole vault needs shadow-free lighting in the approach zone. The system allows illuminating only selected sectors to save energy.
LED luminaires for sports facilities have a lifespan of 50,000-80,000 hours, which at 4,000 hours of annual operation means 12-20 years. The decrease in luminous flux is a maximum of 20% over this period. Maintenance includes cleaning optics 1-2 times a year and checking electrical connections. Compared to metal halide lamps, lamp replacement every 2-3 years is eliminated. Modern systems monitor each luminaire online and report faults automatically.
